We find ourselves complaining like the Israelites who walked and walked and walked for 40 years to the Promised Land. How much longer, oh Lord, until trials end and we can finally see lush, green land? When can we see Your bounty?
But with their patience worn out by the journey,
the people complained against God and Moses,
“Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in this desert,
where there is no food or water?
We are disgusted with this wretched food!”
– Numbers 21:4-5
Thankfully, Jesus’ death on the Cross and Resurrection on the third day completely flipped the desert narrative! The desert is no longer a place of death but a place of deep encounter.
Jesus already banished Satan from the desert – he who tried to tempt him thrice after His fast of 40 days and nights! (Matthew 4:1-11) Jesus, the King of all Kings, has claimed this territory for Himself for all of eternity – there we will find Him alone.
Friend, may this Rosary remind you that the deserts of your life are Jesus’ grand invitations for you to walk with Him, and only Him, side by side! You can choose to be silent or endlessly pour your heart out!
I promise you this:
Your thirst will be quenched in the desert;
Your hunger will be satisfied in the desert;
Your soul will be refreshed in the desert;
Because Life Himself will be walking in the desert with you 💜
